Greece Travel Packages 2013 - Vacations in Athens, Samos, Chios, Lesvos (Mytilene)

This holiday package includes touring a bunch of really laid back yet incredibly unique islands, with impressive features reflecting authentic Greek tradition and absolute tranquillity. North Aegean Islands can be easily explored by car, so this package tour is provided complete with includes a rental car, so that you can make up your own plan, drive around at your own pace and approach even the most remote places and beaches far from the crowds.

Day 1, Travelling to Athens Upon arrival in Athens our English speaking driver will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel downtown Athens in an air-conditioned, modern vehicle. Check in, settle and take the time to get acquainted with the marvellous city. Head to Plaka, an elegant old quarter with traditional houses, at the foot of the Acropolis. Wander in the cobbled streets, browse the shop windows and select one of the restaurants for your dinner.


Day 2, Athens and Cape Sounion tours Today you will enjoy a guided tour in Athens in a modern, air-conditioned coach, so have your breakfast and be ready to be collected from your hotel. The tour includes a visit at the Acropolis, the Tower of Winds, the Old Palace, the Greek and Roman Agora, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House, the Temple of Zeus and the Kallimarmaron Stadium. You will also visit the hill of Lycabettus from where you will gaze at the incredible views of the whole city of Athens. Around lunchtime you will be taken back to the hotel for lunch and a rest and then you will be transferred to Cape Sounion, a marvelous location in sunset over the sea. Return to the hotel after dark.

Day 3, Travelling to Samos Island Enjoy your breakfast, check out the hotel in Athens and you will get transferred by our driver to the airport for your flight to Samos. Upon arrival in Vathi, the main town in Samos, you will be met by our driver and be transferred to your hotel, where you will be hosted for three nights. You will pick up your car rental from the hotel, so you can immediately settle in your room and set off for marvellous experiences. The town of Vathi is a charming one, with nice restaurants and tavernas by the sea. Drive and select one of them to relish your dinner.

Day 4, Out and about Samos Samos is one of the island lying next to the Turkish coast, so it has a different ambiance than other islands of the Aegean. Enjoy your breakfast and set off to explore the beaches of the island and find your own favorite one, discover picturesque traditional villages or simply relax at your hotel. Your best bet would be to drive your rental car to the south of the island where some of the best beaches lie. If you head south drive to the quaint village of Pythagorion, where Pythagoras - the father of mathematics - was born. It is a well-loved destination of tourists where you can visit the site of the ancient Evpalinos Tunnel, which is over a kilometre long. Have dinner in one of the local tavernas and the drive back to your hotel.

Day 5, Out and about Samos After breakfast you may want to continue your exploration of the island in your rental car. You can drive the area around Vathi to view the old traditional mansions, or drive to the inland where you can visit the wineries. A highlight of Samos is the Sanctuary of Hera, one of the Ancient Wonders of the World, which is well worth a visit. If you would rather relax, you may select one of the nearby beaches or the hotel pool.

Day 6, Travelling to Chios Island Enjoy your breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the port in your car rental, where you will deliver it to the car rental representatives and then you will embark on the ferry to Chios. Upon arrival to Chios, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel, where you will also find your rental car. You have three days ahead of you to explore the beautiful island of Chios, which is very close to the Turkish coast and thus somehow influenced. You may relish you dinner in one of those restaurants serving traditional cuisine with a Turkish flair.

Day 7, Out and about Chios Chios is a marvelous island with unspoiled beauties to be explored and it has an authentic ambience that will impress you. You can discover all of its beauties in your rental car from the mastic come plantations to the pristine beaches sandy or pebbly beaches. We also suggest wandering around Chios Town, where you will come across the Turkish quarter, an old Castle as well as museums and galleries, such as the Philip Argenti Gallery and the Byzantine museum.

Day 8, Out and about Chios The options for sightseeing on the island are unlimited, so make the most of your time and visit in your rental car the wonderful; beaches in the north, or the villages where mastic trees are grown in the south. You can also visit the monastery in the inland where skulls of the martyred monks who were slaughtered in the 1800’s are displayed. If you wish to relax you can always stay by the hotel pool to soak up the sun. In the evening, head to Chios Town for a nice dinner and a couple of drinks.

Day 9, Travelling to Lesvos Island (Mytilene) Relish your breakfast, check out and drive to the port where you will deliver your rental car to the car representatives, and then board the ferry to Mytilene. Upon arrival in Mytilene our representative will meet you and take you to your hotel, where you will find your car hire. Lesvos (or Mytilene) is the largest among the North Aegean Islands and the most popular among travellers, with many things to offer, so make the most of your stay in Mytilene and see as much as you can.

Day 10, Out and about Mytilene Mytilene or else called Lesvos is a big island which can easily be explored in a rental car. Mytilene is a lively town full of great entertainment and dining venues right in front of the sea. Explore the streets behind the port and you will find a wide range of shops with antique jewellery, icons and pastries and cakes, among the best in Greece. Spend the evening in one of the local ouzeries or restaurants to enjoy your dinner or select one of the international restaurants.

Day 11, Out and about Mytilene Mytilene is an island where verdant hills, traditional villages, quaint settlements and beautiful beaches are abound. If you wish to explore the island further enjoy your breakfast and depart to the north, to Molyvos, a quiet village with laid-back atmosphere. You may also visit the town of Eressos, birthplace of the ancient poet Sappho. If you love activities in nature Mytilene features many hiking paths passing by lakes and through forests, bringing you in contact with the wilderness of the island.

Day 12, Travelling back home via AthensOn your last day of your holidays in Greece, you will have your breakfast, check out, drive to the airport to drop off your rental car and catch your flight back to Athens and then your plane back home.
